SB 750 Summary

• Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management shall promulgate rules creating the Canine Cooperative Grant Program to provide financial assistance to state, county, and municipal law enforcement entities and fire departments for acquisition, training, and medical expenses of law enforcement and search-and-rescue canines.

• Creates a revolving fund in the State Treasury called the "Canine Cooperative Grant Program Revolving Fund" consisting of legislative appropriations, private donations, and federal grant programs, with all funds appropriated for program administration.

• Department of Emergency Management may retain 5% of annual fund proceeds for program administration costs.

• Annual grant limits are $10,000 per county sheriff, $10,000 per municipal police department, and $10,000 per fire department for canine purchases and training.

• Program shall provide grants for reimbursement of medical expenses for canines injured in the line of service, subject to fund availability; effective November 1, 2025.
