Senate Bill 806 Summary

• Oklahoma Health Care Authority shall seek federal approval to provide nutrition supports coverage under state Medicaid program for Food is Medicine programs designed to improve health outcomes for members with nutrition-related chronic diseases.

• Covered nutrition services under Medicaid may include case management, nutrition counseling, meals or pantry stocking, nutrition prescriptions, and grocery provisions.

• Authority and contracted Medicaid entities shall prioritize inclusion of community-based organizations and local growers to support purchase of locally grown food in nutrition prescriptions wherever feasible.

• State Department of Education shall provide technical assistance to schools applying for grants under the Oklahoma Farm to School Program Act for administering programs that expand student access to fresh, healthy food.

• Act becomes effective July 1, 2025, with emergency declaration allowing immediate effect upon passage and approval.
