City fire departments, fire protection districts, and charitable corporation fire departments must file activity reports using the National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, replacing the previous annual report form system.

Reports must include property and vehicle fire loss amounts, types of fires, inspections, investigations, fire-related civilian deaths and injuries, and firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries requiring hospital or physician services.

Fire-related burn injury and death reports must be completed within 48 hours of the incident.

Charitable corporations providing volunteer or full-time fire departments in unincorporated areas are now explicitly required to submit NERIS reports to the State Fire Marshal.

Effective date is November 1, 2025.
