Unlicensed individuals may practice indigenous/traditional healing therapies and complementary/alternative healing practices (including naturopathy, ayurvedic medicine, massage therapy, homeopathy, herbology, nutrition, iridology, and Asian healing arts) without violating state health care professional practice acts

Practitioners are prohibited from performing surgery, setting fractures, prescribing radiation or controlled substances, diagnosing medical diseases, forcefully manipulating joints, or recommending patients stop prescribed medications

Practitioners must not falsely represent themselves as licensed health care professionals or claim credentials they do not possess

Individuals with felony convictions involving intentional harm or moral turpitude are barred from practicing under these protections
