Students identified as at risk of being retained must receive mandatory hearing screenings, vision screenings, and family assessments conducted by qualified school personnel

At-risk students must also receive a psychiatric evaluation completed by a qualified professional as determined by the State Department of Education

If initial screenings and psychiatric evaluations do not result in a diagnosis or treatment recommendation, students must receive an occupational therapy or physical therapy evaluation

Schools are required to employ or contract with qualified personnel and medical professionals to conduct all required screenings, assessments, and evaluations

All requirements are subject to the availability of funding, with an effective date of July 1, 2025
