Effective January 1, 2026, electrical contractors and journeymen must complete 12 hours of continuing education every 36 months preceding license renewal, with 6 hours covering OUBCC codes and 6 hours on other approved electrical topics

Electrical apprentices must complete 3 hours of continuing education annually preceding re-registration, covering OUBCC codes, industry regulations, and electrical safety standards

Continuing education completed while a license or registration is expired may be applied toward the requirement for the 36-month (contractors/journeymen) or 12-month (apprentices) period preceding expiration

Student apprentices or apprentices enrolled in approved courses are exempt from the continuing education requirement

Effective date is November 1, 2025
