Public schools in Oklahoma may provide annual age-appropriate firearm safety instruction beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, with "public schools" including charter and virtual charter schools

CLEET (Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training), in consultation with the Department of Education, must develop or approve curriculum that cannot bear organizational branding except state-issued marks

Kindergarten through 5th grade instruction covers basic safety: stop, do not touch, leave the area, and tell an adult; grades 6-12 receive instruction on safe handling, storage, and what to do if a firearm is found

All instruction must be viewpoint neutral on political topics like gun rights and gun violence, and may not include live ammunition, live fire, or live firearms

Districts requiring the instruction must notify parents and provide an opt-out option; schools may begin instruction earlier than the CLEET-determined grade level if appropriate
