Primary elections in presidential election years moved from the third Tuesday in June to the third Tuesday in March

Candidate filing period changed from the first Wednesday of April to the first Wednesday of December of any year, with deadline remaining the next succeeding Friday at 5:00 p.m.

Counties, municipalities, and school districts prohibited from scheduling elections within 20 days before any primary election

Nonpartisan candidates retain the right to have their names printed on General Election ballots without going through the primary nomination process
