Physicians, advanced practice nurse practitioners, and physician assistants may prescribe, recommend, or suggest holistic, natural, or alternative treatments if they believe the treatment will be effective or beneficial for pain relief or curing the patient's ailment.

Parents or legal guardians have the right to treat their child with holistic, natural, or alternative medicine instead of following a health care provider's recommendation if they believe it is in the child's best interest.

Health care providers are protected from professional repercussions for prescribing alternative treatments, and parents are protected from legal repercussions for choosing alternative treatments for their children.

Creates new Section 7500 of Title 63 of Oklahoma Statutes.

Effective date: November 1, 2026.
