Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, school district boards may adopt policies allowing charter school, virtual charter school, and homeschool ("educated by other means") students to participate in extracurricular activities offered by public school districts

Students enrolled in statewide virtual charter schools sponsored by the Statewide Charter School Board become authorized to participate in Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (OSSAA) activities starting July 1, 2026

Eligible students may participate in activities at their resident school district, or at an adjacent district if their resident district lacks the policy or doesn't offer the desired activity; the activity cannot have an associated course requirement

Participating students must register intent by July 1 preceding the school year, pay equal fees, follow the same behavioral and conduct standards as other participants, and comply with physical exam and drug testing requirements

Public schools are prohibited from joining any school athletic association that does not allow homeschool and charter school students to participate in interscholastic activities offered by public school districts
