Secretary of the State Election Board must direct all county election boards to conduct post-election audits following elections held on specified statutory dates (Sections 1-101, 1-102, 1-103, and 20-101), making audits mandatory rather than discretionary for these elections

Post-election audits are defined as manual or electronic examinations of a limited number of ballots to verify that voting devices and software correctly tabulated votes

County election board secretaries must report audit findings to the Secretary of the State Election Board, and reports must be made available to the public

Secretary of the State Election Board retains authority to determine audit methods, timing, and procedures, and may promulgate policies and rules for implementation
