Removes the requirement for metal detectors at government event venues that prohibit firearms, leaving only the 8-foot metallic security fence and uniformed peace officer staffing requirements as "minimum security provisions"

Maintains existing prohibitions on carrying firearms in government buildings, courthouses, jails, schools, sports arenas during professional events, gambling establishments, and other specified locations

Allows firearm carry in government parking areas, parks, recreational areas, wildlife refuges, fairgrounds, and at permitted public events without minimum security provisions (limited to concealed handguns)

Preserves exceptions for peace officers, judges with handgun licenses, private investigators, elected county officials, and sheriff-authorized county employees to carry in otherwise restricted areas

Effective date is November 1, 2026
