Certified driver education instructors and designated examiners are now permitted to proctor the knowledge written examination for driver licenses, expanding who can administer these tests beyond Service Oklahoma

Service Oklahoma must authorize and enter into agreements with third parties including public school districts, technology center districts, institutions of higher education, and commercial driver training schools to serve as approved written examination proctors

Applicants age 15 or older receiving driver education instruction, or age 16 or older, may obtain a learner permit after passing exams administered by Service Oklahoma or an approved written examination proctor

Initial designated examiner certification fee is $1,000, with annual renewal fee of $500; certification fees may be waived for public school employees who only test students in public school driver education programs
