Churches classified as A3 buildings may host overnight visitors for religious retreats, ministry programs, lock-in events, emergencies, sheltering transient persons, or accommodating displaced individuals due to hardship or inclement weather

Removes the previous 75-day annual limit on temporary overnight stays, allowing churches to host overnight visitors without time restrictions

Prohibits municipalities, political subdivisions, and government entities from enforcing building codes in ways that infringe upon, prohibit, or impose restrictions that unduly burden a church's overnight accommodation activities

Churches must have either a third-party monitored automatic sprinkler system or a hard-wired fire/smoke alarm with an exit door or window opening directly to a public way

Overnight accommodations constitute a protected exercise of religion and do not change a church's building code occupancy rating, provided the church does not charge fees in a manner that converts the use to commercial purposes
