Physicians, physician assistants, advanced practice registered nurses, and osteopathic physicians must provide an evidence-based mental health screening instrument to each patient during or before routine primary care visits at least once annually

The requirement applies only to providers who practice direct client care; those who do not are exempt

The State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, State Board of Osteopathic Examiners, and Oklahoma Board of Nursing must promulgate rules specifying the required screening instruments and create educational materials for implementation

The boards are authorized to collaborate with each other to develop consistent rules, information, and educational materials across provider types

Effective date: November 1, 2026
