Beginning January 1, 2027, all roofing contractors performing residential work in Oklahoma must obtain a residential roofing endorsement by passing an approved examination with a minimum score of 70%

Contractors registered and in good standing by January 1, 2027 have a 12-month grandfathering period (until January 1, 2028) to either pass the exam or complete 10 additional hours of continuing education approved by the Committee of Roofing Examiners

Contractors holding a current commercial roofer endorsement as of January 1, 2027 are exempt from the residential roofing examination and additional continuing education requirements

New applicants must wait at least 30 days after passing the exam before receiving their endorsement and cannot sell, bid, inspect, or perform residential roofing work until the endorsement is issued

Roofing labor contractors who only provide labor services, work directly for an endorsed roofing contractor, and do not provide materials are exempt from the residential endorsement requirement
