Foreign and alien insurers authorized in Oklahoma may now appoint the Insurance Commissioner, an Oklahoma resident, or a person authorized to do business in the state as their agent for service of process, expanding options beyond only the Insurance Commissioner

Insurers appointing a registered agent other than the Insurance Commissioner must electronically submit the agent's name and address to the Commissioner, keep information current, and report any changes within 5 business days

If a person reasonably relies on the Commissioner's registered agent list and serves process on an incorrect agent, they may alternatively serve process on the Commissioner, with the statute of limitations tolled during the period between service on the incorrect agent and service on the Commissioner

Plaintiffs must pay the Commissioner $20.00 (taxable as costs) when serving process through the Commissioner, who must then forward copies to the insurer's designated registered agent
