Driver licenses that expired within the last 3 years during imprisonment in Department of Corrections custody will be automatically extended for 6 months after release, with Service Oklahoma mailing a replacement license to the released individual

Persons convicted of manslaughter resulting from motor vehicle operation, DUI-related homicide, or being a habitual traffic offender are ineligible for provisional licenses

Provisional license holders who violate laws resulting in suspension or revocation will have their provisional license revoked, except for failures to pay fines/fees if participating in a payment plan

Department of Corrections must provide inmates with documentation to obtain a provisional license before release and coordinate with Service Oklahoma through a data-sharing agreement

Effective date is July 1, 2026
