Expands the categories of protected officers under aggravated assault and battery law to include corrections personnel and any state peace officer employed by state or federal agencies to enforce state laws

Aggravated assault and battery on a protected officer while on duty is a felony punishable by up to life imprisonment, a fine up to $1,000, or both

Aggravated assault and battery resulting in maiming of a protected officer carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years imprisonment, up to life, a fine up to $5,000, or both

Defines aggravated assault and battery upon law officers to specifically include physical contact attempting to gain control of an officer's firearm or strangulation of an officer
