Retired municipal police officers under the Oklahoma Police Pension and Retirement System may request in writing to retain custody of their municipal-issued firearm and badge

Agency heads may deny requests if the officer is not in good standing, has a felony conviction, is mentally incapacitated, or if approval would be detrimental to public health, safety, and welfare

Upon an officer's death prior to retirement, the agency head may award the firearm and badge to the spouse or next of kin per agency policy
