OK SB656

Expands the State Election Board from 3 members and 2 alternates to 5 members beginning July 1, 2027, with appointments divided among the Governor (3 members), Senate President Pro Tempore (1 member), and House Speaker (1 member)

Requires the Governor's appointees to include one member from each of the two largest political parties (selected from lists of 10 nominees submitted by party central committees) plus one member not affiliated with either major party

Transfers appointment of the Secretary of the State Election Board from the Legislature to the Board itself, effective January 1, 2026, with Senate confirmation required and salary set by the Board rather than the Legislature

Establishes 4-year terms for Board members beginning July 1, 2027, with vacancies to be filled within 30 days using the same appointment method as the original member

Repeals existing provisions regarding chair and vice chair selection and becomes effective November 1, 2025
