Public school boards may adopt policies allowing designated school personnel to carry concealed handguns on school property if they possess a valid handgun license under the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, complete 24 hours of training including 4 hours of CLEET-certified weapon retention training, and demonstrate proficiency in handgun and campus-specific active shooter training

Authorized personnel must complete biennial continuing education including 4 hours of CLEET-certified weapon retention training, 4 hours of campus-specific active shooter training, and any additional training required by local law enforcement

Concealed firearms must be carried on the person at all times while on school property, removing previous provisions allowing storage in locked locations

School personnel, school boards, and participating law enforcement agencies are not subject to civil or criminal liability for injuries resulting from authorized concealed carry when acting in a reasonable and prudent manner

Effective date is July 1, 2025, with an emergency clause allowing immediate effect upon passage and approval
