Prohibits health benefit plans from requiring step therapy before covering FDA-approved prescription drugs for advanced metastatic cancer and associated conditions (symptoms or side effects that could jeopardize patient health if untreated)

Covered drugs must be consistent with best practices for treating advanced metastatic cancer and supported by peer-reviewed, evidence-based literature

Advanced metastatic cancer is defined as cancer that has spread from the primary site to nearby tissues, lymph nodes, or other parts of the body

Applies to health benefit plans issued, offered, or renewed on or after January 1, 2026

Exempts this requirement from ORS 743A.001, which typically governs mandated health insurance benefits
