Public university governing boards must request and review background information, including disciplinary action records, from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training before commissioning special campus security officers

The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training may share applicant information with public universities for the purpose of hiring special campus security officers

Existing law already requires nationwide criminal records checks and psychological testing for campus security officers, which remains unchanged

The bill passed the Oregon House on March 4, 2025 and the Senate on May 1, 2025
