Former Oregon legislators are prohibited for one year after leaving office from receiving money or other consideration for lobbying as defined in ORS 171.725

Former legislators are also prohibited during that one-year period from receiving compensation for advocating on behalf of any public or private entity for changes in policy or funding

The bill amends existing ORS 244.045, which already contains post-service restrictions for other officials including Public Utility Commissioners, State Treasurer, Deputy Attorney General, and certain Department of State Police members

Current law already prohibits former legislators from paid lobbying for one year; this bill expands the restriction to include broader paid policy advocacy work
