Law enforcement units may sponsor reserve officers to train as police officers, with training costs paid through cash and/or G.I. Bill education benefits

Department of Public Safety Standards and Training must increase training class sizes by up to 25% as needed to accommodate sponsored reserve officers

Reserve officers who complete training must remain with a law enforcement agency for at least three years after certification, or face potential suspension or revocation of certification

Department of Veterans' Affairs must assist reserve officers in obtaining reimbursement for training costs upon request

Department of Public Safety Standards and Training must study the program's impact on law enforcement budgets, officer recruitment, and public safety, with a report due by September 15, 2030; entire program sunsets January 2, 2032
