Legislative Policy and Research Director must conduct a study of statewide attendance initiatives implemented since the 2017-2018 school year, examining effectiveness, funding impacts, and barriers, with a report due to legislative committees by September 30, 2026.

Department of Education must convene a 17-member advisory committee by May 31, 2026, to review the study and recommend school attendance improvement policies to the State Board of Education, with emphasis on student groups experiencing academic disparities.

Advisory committee includes representatives from state agencies, educator associations, school administrators, education service districts, and community-based organizations supporting historically underserved families.

Department of Education must submit a preliminary report by November 30, 2026, and a final advisory committee report by February 15, 2027, to legislative interim committees on education.

Act takes effect immediately upon passage under emergency clause; study provisions repeal January 2, 2027, and advisory committee provisions repeal June 30, 2027.
