Oregon post-secondary institutions (public universities and accredited private institutions) may now directly compensate student athletes and prospective student athletes for use of their name, image, likeness, or athletic reputation

Removes the previous prohibition that barred schools and athletic associations from providing name, image, and likeness (NIL) compensation to student athletes

Contracts and documentation related to student athlete NIL economic rights held by institutions are confidential and exempt from public disclosure under Oregon public records law (ORS 192.311 to 192.478)

Eliminates the prior restriction preventing student athletes from hiring athlete agents who had represented or been employed by a post-secondary institution within the preceding four years

Takes effect immediately upon passage as emergency legislation; passed House April 10, 2025, repassed June 13, 2025; passed Senate June 2, 2025, repassed June 16, 2025
