Oregon's 83rd Legislative Assembly formally recognizes and honors U.S. Army Specialist Four Paul Jeffrey "Jeff" Cochran (born October 6, 1947) for his military service

SP4 Cochran enlisted in fall 1966, completed Army Airborne School, joined the 101st Airborne Division "Screaming Eagles," and was deployed to South Vietnam in December 1967

Killed in combat on May 1, 1968, in Thua Thien Province, South Vietnam; posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Oakleaf Cluster, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge

His mother Beverly donated property at 1545 College Street in Philomath, Oregon to create the Paul J. Cochran Veterans Memorial Park, which was dedicated November 9, 2024

The Paul J. Cochran Memorial Scholarship was established at Philomath High School in 1968 to honor his sacrifice; his name appears on panel 53E, line 29 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
