Schools serving kindergarten through grade 8 must offer computer science education and computational thinking experiences at all grade levels; high schools must offer at least two computer science courses, including one foundational course

Computer science is added to Oregon's list of required instructional content areas alongside mathematics, science, language arts, history, and other core subjects

Department of Education must develop programming to support teachers in expanding computer science instruction capacity, including integrating computational thinking and artificial intelligence into existing curricula

$5,000,000 appropriated from the General Fund for the 2025-2027 biennium to implement these requirements

School districts are not required to offer computer science courses until the 2028-2029 school year; the act takes effect July 1, 2025 as an emergency measure
