Director of Agriculture must employ an organic policy special assistant to coordinate organic agricultural initiatives within the State Department of Agriculture

Special assistant will track national trends, policies, and regulatory changes affecting organic production, marketing, and certification to support federal and state advocacy efforts

Position responsibilities include coordinating marketing of organic products, facilitating organic trade, and addressing organic import substitution

Special assistant will work with other state agencies to address gaps in organic agricultural data and establish statewide infrastructure for post-harvest handling and processing

Role includes integrating policies that encourage organic practices into all relevant department programs
