Department of Education must develop guidelines and information about cardiac events affecting student athletes, including symptoms (fainting, seizures during exercise, shortness of breath, chest pains, dizziness, racing heart rate, extreme fatigue) and risks of continued participation

School districts must require student athletes and their parents/guardians to acknowledge receipt and review of cardiac event information before each athletic season begins

Coaches must receive annual training on recognizing cardiac event symptoms and seeking proper medical treatment for affected students

Students who faint during or immediately after athletic participation are prohibited from returning until cleared by a qualified health care professional or licensed athletic trainer

Coaches must immediately notify parents/guardians when observing any cardiac event symptoms in a student athlete; provisions become operative July 1, 2026, applying to the 2026-2027 school year
