Student enrollment in remote learning programs or online learning programs must be voluntary and cannot be unilaterally imposed by a school district

"Online learning program" is defined as instruction that regularly and primarily occurs online or through electronic technology; "remote learning program" is defined as instruction where students are regularly separated by time or location from their teacher

Exceptions allow involuntary placement for out-of-school suspensions under ORS 339.250

Exceptions also allow temporary remote/online placement during functional behavioral assessments or while behavior intervention plans are being developed or implemented

School districts may provide temporary remote/online learning to a majority of students during public health emergencies, natural disasters, human-created disasters, or other declared public emergencies
