Honors Peter Courtney (June 18, 1943 – July 16, 2024), Oregon's longest-serving legislator and longest-tenured Senate President, who led the chamber for a record 20 years beginning in 2003

Recognizes his legislative accomplishments including sponsoring more than 200 bills that became law, Oregon's first vote-by-mail legislation in 1981, and earthquake improvements to over 450 critical public buildings

Names the bicameral, bipartisan lounge for members in the newly renovated Oregon State Capitol building as the "Peter Courtney Memorial Lounge"

Acknowledges his role in establishing the new state mental health hospital (opened 2013), now named the Peter Courtney Salem Campus of the Oregon State Hospital, and creating a memorial for over 3,500 patients whose cremains were stored on site

Declares his work ethic, bipartisan spirit, and compassion for Oregonians as lasting aspirations for Legislative Assembly members
