Aurora State Airport, located in northern Marion County, is recognized as a critical emergency preparedness and disaster response facility for Oregon and the Pacific Northwest region

The airport covers 144 acres, making it the largest state-owned airport in Oregon, with more than 1 million square feet of hangar, office, and shop space that can be transitioned for emergency operations

Soil studies predict the runway, taxiways, and parking aprons will remain fully operational after a major seismic event with minimal repair needed

The airport hosts key disaster response organizations including two of the nation's largest heavy-lift helicopter companies (Columbia Helicopters and Helicopter Transport Services), Life Flight Network's regional headquarters, the Oregon Disaster Airlift Response Team, and Civil Air Patrol

The resolution formally recognizes the airport's emergency preparedness role and commends the Aurora Airport Improvement Association for developing plans and infrastructure to serve as a resiliency facility
