Oregon Department of Energy must conduct a study on nuclear energy, including advanced nuclear reactors, covering feasibility of construction, life cycle costs, health and environmental risks, grid integration, and decarbonization of high-energy industries

Study must address nuclear waste management, including existing storage methods, disposal costs, and legal pathways for recycling, reprocessing, and long-term storage under Oregon and federal law

Department must consult with the Public Utility Commission, Pacific Northwest Electric Power and Conservation Planning Council, Department of Land Conservation and Development, Oregon State University, and federally recognized tribes in Oregon

Report due to Legislative Assembly energy committees by February 15, 2027, with funding contingent on federal, private, or other public sources deposited into a newly established Nuclear Energy Study Fund

Act takes effect immediately upon passage and sunsets January 2, 2028, with remaining fund balances reverting to the General Fund
