All K-12 public and private schools in Oregon must develop a cardiac emergency response plan, replacing the previous requirement to simply have an AED on premises

Schools must have at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) placed in clearly identified, unlocked, accessible locations during school hours and athletic practices/competitions

Every coach and other designated staff must be trained in CPR and AED use

Schools must share AED locations with local emergency medical services providers and maintain/test AEDs according to manufacturer guidelines

Takes effect July 1, 2026, first applying to the 2026-2027 school year, with annual plan reviews required
