Places of public accommodation may adopt a rounding policy for in-person cash and mixed-tender transactions, rounding the final digit to the nearest five-cent increment

Transactions ending in 1, 2, 6, or 7 cents round down; transactions ending in 3, 4, 8, or 9 cents round up; amounts ending in 0 or 5 cents remain unchanged

Buyers who pay in exact change are exempt from rounding, and businesses must post signs notifying customers of the rounding policy

Compliant rounding is protected from liability under Oregon's price misrepresentation laws (ORS 618.236), unlawful trade practice statutes (ORS 646.605-652), and currency discrimination provisions (ORS 659A)
