Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) may create and maintain 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations under ORS chapter 65, provided OHSU remains a corporate member of the entity

Entities created by OHSU retain public status, qualifying as public employers, units of local government, public bodies, public agencies, and public corporations under various Oregon statutes

Physicians, naturopathic physicians, and dentists providing patient care for these nonprofit entities are deemed to be acting within the scope of state employment for liability purposes under ORS 30.267

Prohibitions under ORS 677.080 regarding the practice of medicine do not apply to nonprofit corporations created under this statute
