Newly constructed Group R-2 buildings with more than 15 dwelling units must have at least 10% (or minimum 2 units) designed as Type A accessible units per ANSI standard A117.1

Housing and Community Services Department prohibited from funding new subsidized rental housing unless it meets visitability requirements including stepless entrances with 32-inch clearance, accessible routes to common living spaces, and reinforced bathroom walls for handrails

Subsidized multifamily developments with 15+ units must provide wheelchair accessibility features in common areas and at least 10% of units, plus communication features for blind or deaf individuals in at least 4% of units

Department of Consumer and Business Services directed to adopt rules aligning the state building code with Fair Housing Act accessibility requirements and Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards

Provisions become operative January 1, 2027, with the act taking effect 91 days after the 2026 legislative session adjourns
