Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, school entities must adopt policies for notifying parents/guardians when a student threatens suicide or is involved in a bullying incident.

Schools must maintain records verifying parental notification, provide suicide prevention materials including information on limiting access to firearms and medications, and post notification policies on their public websites.

Students may request copies of their own notification records, and records must be expunged upon request after high school graduation.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education must develop a model notification policy, potentially in consultation with youth suicide prevention organizations, and make it available to all schools including nonpublic schools upon request.

The act takes effect 60 days after enactment; notification records are exempt from the Right-to-Know Law.
