Active volunteer first responders who use their personal vehicles to respond to emergencies would be exempt from vehicle registration fees, paying only a $10 processing fee instead

Eligible volunteers include members of emergency medical services companies, volunteer fire companies, and volunteer rescue services as defined in 35 Pa.C.S. § 7363

The volunteer must be the owner and principal driver of the vehicle, though they may occasionally authorize another person to drive it

Only one passenger car or truck with a registered gross weight of 9,000 pounds or less qualifies for the exemption per person

The act takes effect 60 days after enactment
