Drivers must obey all traffic signals from school crossing guards and stop within 30 feet (but not less than 10 feet) when directed, remaining stopped until signaled to proceed

Violations are classified as summary offenses with a $250 fine plus a $35 surcharge

The $35 surcharge is deposited into the School Bus Safety Grant Program Account

School crossing guards are defined as persons appointed by school districts or municipalities to guard crossings during school arrival and dismissal hours

The act takes effect 180 days after enactment
