Residential customers admitted to long-term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living residences, personal care homes) may suspend or terminate telecommunications, cable, and internet service contracts without fees or penalties

Service providers must suspend billing and service obligations for at least 90 days upon receiving a valid request with physician documentation

If the customer remains in a long-term care facility beyond 90 days, the provider must terminate the contract upon request without imposing early termination fees

Legal representatives with power of attorney or court-ordered guardianship may submit requests on behalf of incapacitated service recipients

Customers remain responsible for returning leased equipment and paying any outstanding balances for unreturned or purchased equipment; act takes effect in 60 days
