Police departments must provide part-time officers with health insurance (covering officer, spouse, and dependents), duty-related disability coverage, and duty-related survivor benefits

Benefits must match those provided to full-time officers in the same department, or match Pennsylvania State Police benefits if no full-time officers are employed

Part-time officers working for multiple police departments may choose which department provides their benefits, but can only receive benefits from one department at a time

Officers must provide proof of benefits coverage to any employing department from which they are not receiving benefits

Effective date is January 1, 2026, or immediately upon enactment, whichever is later
