Students in Pennsylvania public schools prohibited from possessing or using cell phones during the school day inside school buildings

Students must either deposit phones in a lockbox/secure location or secure them in a locking pouch that prevents access throughout the day

Exemptions granted with administrator approval for volunteer firefighters, ambulance/rescue squad members, or students with immediate family members who have medical conditions

Public school entities (including school districts, charter schools, career and technical schools, and intermediate units) required to develop written policies subject to Department of Education approval

Takes effect 60 days after enactment
