Health care facilities in Pennsylvania must allow patients to use autologous blood transfusions (donating their own blood for their own future use) or direct allogeneic blood transfusions (receiving blood from a specified donor) for medical procedures

Patients must notify the health care facility at least 72 hours before a scheduled procedure of their intention to use these transfusion options

For direct allogeneic transfusions, patients must provide a list of eligible blood donors to the facility

Applies to all Department of Health-licensed facilities including hospitals, clinics, inpatient centers, outpatient facilities, and diagnostic or treatment centers

Takes effect 60 days after enactment
