Prohibits the possession, use, sale, transfer, or manufacture of assault weapons in Pennsylvania, including selective-fire firearms, firearms capable of accepting large-capacity magazines, and semiautomatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns with specified military-style features

Defines large-capacity magazines as devices holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition, with exceptions for .22 caliber tube feeders, lever-action tubular magazines, and permanently altered or inoperable devices

Exempts military personnel, law enforcement officers, and other public safety officers acting in their official capacity from the prohibition

Grandfathers in assault weapons lawfully owned or possessed before the law's effective date, allowing current owners to retain their firearms

Takes effect 60 days after enactment and adds new Section 6121.1 to Title 18 (Crimes and Offenses) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes
