Operating a drone on school grounds or in aerial space above a school without written permission from the school entity becomes a criminal offense under Pennsylvania's unlawful use of unmanned aircraft statute

Violations are classified as a summary offense punishable by a fine of up to $300

School security personnel performing official duties are exempt from the drone restrictions

"School entity" includes school districts, intermediate units, career and technical schools, charter schools, cyber charter schools, regional charter schools, private schools, and nonpublic schools

Takes effect 60 days after enactment
