Department of Education must develop an age-appropriate media literacy model curriculum for K-12 students within 6 months of the act's effective date

School districts must incorporate media literacy into their curriculum beginning the school year after the effective date

Curriculum may cover critical thinking skills, understanding media's influence on culture, identifying target-marketing strategies, recognizing persuasion techniques, spotting bias and misinformation, and evaluating media messages

State Board of Education must publish the curriculum on its public website, and the Department of Education must provide media literacy resources and approved teacher training opportunities

Act takes effect 60 days after enactment
